ESMIL has successfully completed the initial commissioning of a complete sludge dewatering system at the municipal wastewater treatment plant in Ács, Hungary. The installation features an MDQ-504 Multi-Disc Screw Press, the largest model in the MDQ series, with a maximum hydraulic capacity of 35 m³/h.
One of the key advantages of the system is its ability to adjust dewatering capacity to the plant’s changing needs. This is particularly important for the Ács facility, which is expected to increase its treatment capacity to 3,000 m³/day in the future.
Modular MDQ Screw Press with Flexible Capacity Control
ESMIL MDQ Multi-Disc Screw Presses feature a modular design that allows each unit to be equipped with up to six dewatering drums. This makes it possible to tailor the dehydrator configuration to the required capacity and the specific needs of each wastewater treatment plant.
The MDQ-504 supplied to Ács is equipped with four dewatering drums. Its advanced control system allows operators to adjust the press capacity by selecting how many drums are running. This means that when sludge volumes are lower, there is no need to operate all four drums simultaneously. Of course, in this case it is necessary to close corresponding sludge feed openings in the sludge and flocculant mixing tank; this should be done manually using a special plugs.
This allows the plant to adjust dewatering capacity to current sludge volumes while maintaining the flexibility to handle higher loads in the future.
Initial System Tests Successfully Completed
Initial commissioning was carried out using water to verify the system’s operation and prepare it for operation with actual sludge. The tests were completed successfully, confirming the system’s readiness for the next commissioning stage under actual operating conditions.
