At ESMIL Group, we take responsibility for our equipment not only at the manufacturing and delivery stage, but above all throughout its long-term operation at the plant. This is where real cooperation begins – covering operation, optimization, and continuous support under demanding conditions.
In 2020, ESMIL Group manufactured and supplied a catenary screen for the Andalföld pumping station in Budapest. The unit plays a key role in protecting the northern wastewater treatment plants, which receive a pre-screened flow from this location.
The KR 2853 sewage screen with a 20 mm bar spacing operates in a channel 6 m deep and 3 m wide, with a flow rate of 5,000-12,000 m³/h. The volume of captured screenings reaches approximately 4 m³ per day, resulting in continuous, high operational load on the equipment.
Under such conditions, not only the design itself is critical, but also the way the system is operated and continuously optimized. In the following years, in cooperation with plant personnel, we analyzed the screen’s performance under real operating conditions and introduced design improvements and control logic modifications tailored to actual inflow characteristics and variable loads.
An important part of this process was also the development of a dedicated approach to operation and maintenance. The jointly developed protocol takes into account the specific conditions of the facility, including inflow variability and the volume of captured screenings, and enables stable and predictable long-term operation.
To date, the ESMIL catenary screen has accumulated over 35,000 operating hours under demanding conditions while maintaining stable performance parameters. The adopted cooperation and maintenance model allows the operator to run the installation in a predictable manner, without unplanned downtime or loss of process efficiency.
This stage, real operation of the equipment and its ongoing optimization together with the user, best defines ESMIL Group as a manufacturer. We do not stop at delivery but continuously develop our solutions based on actual plant needs.
Ongoing support for the Budapest installation has been carried out in cooperation with our local partner Ekosvit Centrum Kft., which represents ESMIL Group on the Hungarian market.
