Date: March 26, 2025
Location: South Dearborn Regional Sewer District, Lawrenceburg, Indiana
Event: Southern Indiana Operators Association (SIOA) Conference
On March 26, our American branch, Esmil Corp., participated in the SIOA Conference hosted by the South Dearborn Regional Sewer District in Lawrenceburg, IN, where wastewater professionals from across Southern Indiana gathered to share industry knowledge, technological advancements, and operational insights.
Our presence at this event was especially meaningful, as the host facility has been operating a fully integrated ESMIL sludge dewatering system for nearly two years.
Proven Performance: ESMIL Sludge Dewatering at South Dearborn WWTP
The installed system includes:
This setup has delivered remarkable operational benefits to the wastewater treatment plant, including:
- High-efficiency sludge dewatering. The MDQ multi-disc screw press consistently achieves cake solids of ~17%, even with complex and variable sludge characteristics. Pilot tests prior to installation confirmed that the MDQ outperforms conventional equipment in both performance and reliability.
- Compact, high-capacity thickening. The MDQ-T thickening unit operates effectively at up to 114 m3/h, occupying only about 9,3 m² – an ideal solution for space-constrained facilities.
- Automation with minimal supervision. The system runs smoothly with low operator involvement, thanks to its advanced automation and intuitive controls. No unplanned downtime or part replacements have occurred since commissioning.
- Reduced maintenance costs. By replacing aging legacy systems, the plant significantly lowered its maintenance-related operating expenses, making this upgrade a cost-effective and sustainable investment.
Sharing Expertise: MDQ Training Session at the Conference
During the SIOA event, our sales engineer Randy Burns led a technical seminar on MDQ technology, highlighting its engineering principles, sludge handling capabilities, and performance in real-world installations. Attendees actively engaged in peer-to-peer knowledge exchange, reinforcing the spirit of collaboration that drives innovation in the water and wastewater sector.
Conclusion: Long-Term Value Through Innovation
The South Dearborn case is a prime example of how ESMIL’s technology delivers long-term value for municipal wastewater treatment plants. Through superior performance, minimal maintenance, and energy efficiency, the MDQ sludge dewatering system has proven to be a reliable, cost-saving solution.
We thank the SIOA organizers and all participants for an engaging and insightful event!
