In February 2023 Prodeko-Ełk Sp. z o. o. (part of the Esmil Group) under the subcontracting agreement signed with Polaqua Sp. z o.o., which is the general contractor of the contract entitled “Tasks II.8 – Reconstruction of the channel pump station “Żerań I” and “Żerań II””, performed the assembly of ESMIL RP-2290 back raked screens produced at the Prodeko-Ełk production plant in Ełk, Poland.
The installation of ESMIL RP-2290 back raked screens in the newly built screens chamber is part of the reconstruction project of the “Żerań I” and “Żerań II” channel pump stations in Warsaw. This station is not only one of the largest sewage pumping stations in Poland but also one of the largest in Central and Eastern Europe. The total hydraulic capacity of the pumping station is approx. 55 000 m3/h.
For this project, ESMIL back-raked screens were selected, which are characterized by high efficiency and can effectively remove fibrous contamination from the flowing wastewater without the risk of jamming of the scraper mechanisms. Due to the characteristics and functionality of the newly built screens chamber, the supplied and installed mechanical screens are distinguished by their dimensions – the total length of each screen is 12 m, width 2.2 m, and the bar spacing is 50 mm. The screens are made of corrosion-resistant materials (AISI 304 stainless steel) and are reliable in operation as well as easy to maintain. The scraper mechanism located behind the filter cloth is in contact with already purified wastewater, which significantly reduces the possibility of clogging or jamming with large objects. The lack of moving elements submerged in water greatly facilitates operation.
This pumping station has strategic importance for the capital city of Warsaw and its vicinity, which is why the most modern solutions were used during the reconstruction to ensure the trouble-free operation of the pumping station for many years.
